DIRECTIONS
The Monument is in the southeastern part of the state. Go four-and-one-half miles northwest from Beatrice on NE 4 to the Monument. Lincoln is about forty miles north of Beatrice on Highway 77.

WHEN TO VISIT
Open year round. Peak visitor month is June. Winters are cold with occasional snow; Summers are hot and humid with occasional thunder showers.

POINTS OF INTEREST
This Park, which includes the 160-acre claim filed by Daniel Freeman under The Homestead Act of 1862, is a memorial to the pioneers who settled the Great West. Among the features are a typical homestead cabin, a restored frontier school, and more than 100 acres of tall grass prairie.

Visitor Center; museum/exhibits; self-guiding tours/trails; picnic areas; hiking; cross-country ski trail.

GENERAL INFORMATION
A two and a half mile trail takes you around the site. Freeman School is open during the Summer. Food, supplies, camping, and overnight accommodations are available in Beatrice.
